Louisa Boyd

Artistic Operations, Head of Acro & Cheerleading

Since 2017, I have worked for Move It. I currently teach nine classes a week, covering Cheerleading Stunts, Acrobatics, and assisting where needed. In addition to teaching, I’m also responsible for keeping things organised and running smoothly behind the scenes. I orchestrate pretty much everything you can imagine that goes on here at Move It.

The most important thing for me as a teacher is to give each student what they need to thrive as individuals. Everyone learns, grows, and sets goals differently. I strive to equip each student with the tools they need to succeed, in whatever way that looks for them.

Read more about me and my journey below.

My Story

My dance journey began at the age of 4 in a local ballet class in Bedfordshire. After moving to the Isle of Man, I continued ballet at Dancers Barre in Laxey until the age of 7. During that time, I completed my Prep and Primary grades and even attended an open audition for the Royal Ballet School.

Over the years, I’ve dipped in and out of theatre and music training, StageCoach Theatre School, drama classes, weekly piano and singing lessons, school productions, the occasional dance class, culminating in a GCSE in Music and an A Level BTEC in Performing Arts.

I was also a gymnast at Manx Gymnastics from the age of 7 to 15, and it quickly became my favourite hobby. I especially loved floor work and vault. In my early teens, I began helping as an assistant coach on Saturday mornings, a role I held for a few years. It taught me so much about creating engaging classes and building positive relationships with younger athletes.

At university, I joined the Liverpool Jets Cheerleading team with no prior experience, but I fell in love with it straight away. Over three years, I competed at Levels 1, 3, and 4 as a base, and loved every second. When I returned to the Isle of Man, I noticed there were no local cheerleading squads, so I approached Move It, and the rest is history! We now have 2 Cheerleading squads who compete off island and well as perform on stage.

Over the past 8 years, I’ve grown the Stunts and Acro programme at Move It into what it is today. I’ve always had two main goals in cheer:

  1. Create an Isle of Man squad that could compete at Worlds

  2. Host a week-long on-island cheerleading camp

In 2025, alongside Kate and Riki, SportCheer Isle of Man was established, and we proudly sent our first two athletes to the ICU World Championships as Team Isle of Man. Move It also hosted two workshops at KWC—one was a week-long cheerleading camp, and the other was in partnership with SportCheer Isle of Man.

It’s been an exciting ride watching my first cheer athletes grow and compete, and I can’t wait to see how things continue to develop. If you have any questions about Move It, Acro, Cheerleading, or SportCheer Isle of Man, please don’t hesitate to ask!
