More about Laura

Hello! I’m Laura, but many of you know me as Fairy Dance Mother!

I was a late starter to dancing in that the first dance classes I attended were line dancing classes in my twenties! After living on the Isle of Man for years I eventually joined Move It as a complete beginner in the adult ballet class in 2021. Before long I was also taking tap, cheer and freestyle classes and because I loved being at the studio so much I became a teaching assistant when we moved to our new home in Hutchinson Square. My teaching journey took a huge step forward in July 2025 when I gained a distinction for my IDTA Freestyle Associate exam under the expert guidance of Kate and with the support of the team. It is my mission to prove that dance is for any body of any age, and that we can love dance for how it makes us feel as well as what it brings us.

As well as dance, I am also passionate about mindset and personal development and have previously worked as a Performance Coach for a well known bank. Whilst in that role I studied Neuro Linguistic Programming and hypnosis - the study of how our language affects our thoughts and subconscious and how we behave on a day to day basis. I’m delighted that my roles of Student Liaison Officer & Choreographer at Move It allow me to blend those two passions - helping people to overcome challenges, providing a point of contact and support when necessary to guide and signpost, whilst being able to encourage progress and development with dance, overcoming limiting beliefs and becoming the best dancer we can possibly be.
