Emma-Louise
Choreographer
Hi there, it’s Emma-Lou. I began my teaching journey in 2021 and am one of the choreographers at Move It Studios. Currently I am both teaching independently and also assisting with various styles throughout the week, as well as helping at the many workshops that we do throughout the year. My main style is Tap where I teach beginners and adults, however my other class and my main passion is drama with students of all ages. I absolutely love watching my students grow and think that a teacher who actually believes in their students can make a huge difference to their progression and love for their style.
More about me
I started at the age of 5 with Move It Studios when they first began in 2011. I still remember my first lesson with Kate when there were only a couple of people in each class and to see the progression that the studio has made to the amount of students and standard they have achieved is incredible and such a privilege to witness. Because of this I have definitely learnt from the best and am constantly continuing to learn so much about the world of dance and performing to this day, which I love.

Outside of teaching I still attend multiple classes at Move It and have trained in many different styles including: Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Modern, Musical Theatre, Drama, Hip-Hop and various Competition Teams. Dance is such a huge part of my identity. Next year I am hoping to further my studies and attend a Drama School in the UK as my love of performing only enhances, I am hoping that I can pursue it in the future in any way possible.

When I’m not at Move It I love to spend time with my family who have been and always will be my biggest supporters. Another one of my past times is being involved in various shows at the Gaiety just some being: ‘Red’ Move It Into The Woods (2018), Peter Pan - Christine Wild (2018), ‘Phoenix’ Move It To The Rescue (2020), Wizard Of Oz - Christine Wild (2021), ‘Sloth’ The Seven - Move It (2022), ’Martha’ High School Musical (2024), ’Dreamcatcher’ Dancing In The Moonlight - Move It (2024), National Youth Theatre Connections (2025), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Rachel Wild (2025). As you can probably tell, theatre is my passion and has been for an extremely long time.

Some of my favourite moments from dancing have been through competitions. Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely terrified, but the joy that I receive from dancing for an audience outweighs this tenfold. There is constantly either an exam to prepare for or local competitions such at The Guild, however, a couple stand-outs for me are when we travelled to Paris to compete in the Future Cheer Dance competition (2023) where I danced in a Modern/Jazz Team. This was such an amazing experience and was so exciting to be able to share it with so many of my friends. Another has to be our trip to Florida where me and fellow teacher Emily performed a Freestyle Pom Duo at the World Cheerleading Championships (2025) as Team Isle Of Man. We are the first to ever do so, paving the way for so many more to come. This was such an eye-opening experience into the level and athleticism of some of the other dancers and to the standard in which they have to train daily. It was so lovely to meet so many other teams from all across the world such as China, South Africa and our very own team England. I will be forever proud of this moment and so pleased to call myself part of SportCheer IOM - Team Isle Of Man and to be lucky enough to carry the flag for the Island.

When I’m teaching I believe that the main aim of the lesson should be to have fun! I love to see a smile on everyone’s face and quite often find that you’re more likely to remember things when you’re enjoying yourself so, if you leave the lesson and can tell me one thing that you have learnt then I believe I have done my job correctly. I believe that every dance and every piece of theatre should tell a story, whether that’s through speech, song, movement or simply just emotion. This isn’t boot camp, it’s a safe and energetic space where everyone should be positive and wanting to learn new skills. I am so proud to be sharing my craft with so many others and hopefully making a difference to someone’s view of performing.
