Move It Dance was formed in 2011 by Kate Caine. We started with one class a week in Onchan community centre, and we have grown to over 30 classes a week, and over 10 different dance styles. Our aim is to bring fun, through dance, to as many people as possible. Move It has a very enjoyable style of dance class and we try to be as relaxed as possible. We have a 100% pass rate with our students in their exams through IDTA and we enter various competitions as a team. (You may have seen us in the live final of Isle of Man’s got talent 2013! Or 2015 Next Big Thing where we won the people's choice award!) We teach various dance styles, including Freestyle, Cheer, Lyrical, Street, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Tap and many others. Check out our timetable on the Downloads page for a full class breakdown.
At Move It we also offer Private Tuition for Wedding dances, Audition pieces or just a one to one to get you started if you may feel a tad shy.
Since Move It began we have tried to improve and expand to bring to you an amazing dance school that has something to offer everyone. Kate recently became an IDTA Associate in the Theatre branch through IDTA and a Licentiate in Freestyle. Kate is continuing her learning, to bring the latest trends and styles to Move it.
We also put on shows, with our first show being held on the 26th September 2014! It was at the Gaiety Theatre which we thoroughly enjoyed our second show was held on the 2nd & 3rd December 2016, which was a huge success and lots of fun! Everyone is welcome to join us in our show, no matter the age or ability. Everyone has a chance to shine. Throughout 2017 we will look to put on workshops in styles we don't teach and holiday workshops to get you to try out new styles that you may love and want us to add to our regular timetable. We also have private lessons, for Dance, Health and Nutrition or even a room to hire out and practise an instrument. We have attended four Cheerleading Competitions in Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens with amazing success of over 30 podium places and two 2nd placed squad's! We want Move It to be a place for all things dance and theatre! We have lots of exciting things happening at Move It, and we hope you want to come along and join in the fun. Kate formed our Dance School called Move It with just 10 Students In community halls in 2011. They are expanding and growing all the time and currently have various classes throughout the week, and now have over 200 pupils. Kate loves to dance, and enjoys bringing this joy to as many others as possible. Kate thoroughly enjoys performing and was a cast member in the DCU's The who's Tommy in 2014, and Was Peters Wife in the DCU's Jesus Christ Superstar, and a show girl in the 2016 production of the Producers which she enjoyed performing alongside 11 Move It members and teachers.
A bit about Bev
Bev is our Exercise Coach and you will usually find her organising and ensuring all students are warmed up ready for classes. In 2016 Bev gained a Diploma with a Distinction and is a qualified Fitness Instructor. Like so many people Bev has struggled with her weight and self-confidence for many years. She decided to start studying general fitness, not only for herself, but to help others in the same situation. Bev can develop a programme to your personal needs whether its to keep you fit or support you whilst getting in shape. Bev can also provide a personal food programme, and/or a general fitness programme, tailored to your needs. She loves what Move it brings to children and adults on a health and fitness level and likes being part of the team. If you would like some one to one classes or you would like to get a group keep fit class up and running for you and your friends at your convenience then give her a call today!
A bit about Louisa
Louisa lives on the Isle of Man and while at university in 2014 joined a cheer team and quickly advanced within the sport. During three years of cheering, she has won Coed Level Four at Future Cheer in 2017 and Level Two All-Girls at JamFest Cheer and Dance in 2016. Before cheering, Louisa was a gymnast, and a gynamstics coach for over a decade and found the skills learnt here are imperative for a good Cheer coach. Louisa is very excited to get working on our Stunt Cheer team and attend competitions with the new team.
Michelle O’Hea Joined our awesome team October 2018 as our Administrations liaison Manager.
Michelle O'Hea was so invaluable as a volunteer at the studio that we have offered her a permanent position within the company, and now does all back office tasks associated with running a dance school.
Miriam has also been taught by Kate for over 10 years and in this time has many 1st place trophies and dozens of amazing exam results, including distinctions in all 5 of the Freestyle grades that she completed jin 2018. Miriam is the overall highest ever scorer in an Exam with Move it scoring a huge 96/100 in one of her Freestyle exams! That is the top 1% of all students in the WORLD that score that high, according to the IDTA head office!
Miriams passion is Cheerleading and Freestyle and still to this day regullaly competes in the UK and improves with every competition she attends. Loved by everyone at Move it and in School (Chosen for Prom queen by her peers no less) she will be such an enthusiastic inspiring teacher within the Move it crew.
Hannah has been dancing at Move it since it first began and has loved it ever since. Since starting, she has taken part in many exams including Tap, Team, Modern and Freestyle where she completed her Grade 5 exam last year. Hannah has taken part in all the Move it shows and also in local competitions including the next big thing and the guild, which has helped her to gain amazing experience. Hannah is looking forward to starting her teaching work this year with move it, and can't wait to learn from the team at move it and become a great teacher with a great team.
Hannah is wonderful asset to the team, and her skills in Modern dance will be greatly used is these classes she will be teaching. She is currently studying for her A levels and is ready for the next challenge at move it and becoming an IDTA qualified teacher in March.
Annabelle started Move it in 2011 at age 9. She had never danced before, however participating in a few of Move its classes such as freestyle, she realised she had a strong passion for dancing. In 2013 she had her first exams in freestyle and Cheerleading. Since then she has completed 17 exams with IDTA, including all the freestyle grade exams possible, with each one achieving a fantastic distinction! dancing with Move it has given her lots of self confidence and a whole network of amazing friends. She is very excited to start her teacher with Move it, and looks forward to taking Freestyle and Cheer classes!
Jenna was born on the Isle of Man and is turning sweet 16 this year. Jenna started dancing with MoveIt in 2012 and the first dance style she took was Freestyle. When the studio opened up in 2014 she started learning new dance styles; Tap, Fast Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary. Jenna particularly enjoys Fast Jazz and Ballet. Fast Jazz is so fun and energetic whereas Ballet tends to be more slow but beautiful. Jenna can't wait to start assisting in Ballet and Fast Jazz classes. Jenna has taken exams for all her classes. So far she has reached Grade 4 for both Ballet and Freestyle. In Freestyle she has also achieved a bronze medal award. Jenna has completed Grade 2 and received a bronze medal award for Modern Jazz, along with a bronze and a silver medal award for Tap. She really enjoys dancing, and as a naturally shy person dance has helped her become more confident over the years. Furthermore dance helps me keep fit and is very fun.
